Fundraiser for Wheelchair Accessible Van
Dear Friends and Community,
We are Angie and Bonnie McHugh, and we are reaching out to ask for your support in purchasing a new wheelchair accessible van. Angie, who is 49 years old, was born with Spina Bifida and is unable to transfer out of her power wheelchair. As a result, we rely on a wheelchair accessible van to attend medical appointments and maintain connections with family and friends for social events.
Unfortunately, the van we currently depend on is a 2002 model that has become increasingly unreliable. In the past month alone, we have had it serviced five times, spending over $2,200 in repairs, but the issues persist, with the check engine light continuing to appear. Moreover, the van no longer passes Texas State emissions and safety tests, and as a result, we are unable to renew our registration.
With our current vehicle no longer safe or viable, we are turning to our community for help. We are seeking to raise the funds necessary to purchase a newer, more reliable wheelchair accessible van that will safely meet our needs. Any contribution—large or small—would make a tremendous difference in helping us maintain independence and access to essential services.
We deeply appreciate your consideration of our request, and we are so grateful for any support you can offer. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
With sincere thanks and gratitude,
Angie and Bonnie McHugh
