My name is Constance, and I am the maternal grandmother of Angel Smith, a precious baby boy born on July 28. Angel is only three weeks old, and I am fighting to keep him safe and with family. Right now, Angel is in Florida while I am in Georgia, and the Department of Children and Families has already held a shelter hearing he is with my stepdad in Florida. I am deeply concerned about the possibility of Angel entering state care, given my family's painful history with the system. The ICPC process with state's antics is very slow.
My daughter, Angel's mother, spent time in a state care facility as a child due to behavior, where she experienced unimaginable trauma, including being sex trafficked. These experiences have led to her ongoing struggles with addiction, and I am determined to prevent Angel from facing similar risks. The system failed my daughter, and I am doing everything I can to make sure it does not fail Angel. I am seeking help to cover the costs of travel, legal fees, and a DCF intervention so I can secure a good attorney and bring Angel home to a safe and loving environment. This normally cost about 10K!
Your support will help me fight for Angel's future and keep him out of state care. Every contribution brings us closer to reuniting our family and giving Angel the chance to grow up surrounded by love and safety. Thank you for standing with us during this critical time. I was in the NICU for 15 days, which was costly starting out, a little goes a long way.
