My name is Briana, and my husband is Angel Lugo. On September 17, 2025, my husband was charged with unlawful carry of a firearm and placed on an ICE hold. The weapon was legally registered to me, his wife. It was inside of my purse in the backseat of our vehicle. We had just returned back to town, and I completely forgot about my purse being in the vehicle. The morning of September 17, Angel left home around 4 AM to go job hunting as he had just been laid off. Angel worked 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week, overnight, and the neighborhood we lived in wasn’t the safest. That’s the main reason I had the firearm.

My family has been torn apart for what feels like an eternity. Angel is currently being held in El Paso, TX, at Fort Bliss detention center. I am trying to raise money for when he is released to get him bus tickets, a phone, and a way to be able to survive on his own till he makes it to family 24 hours away from where he will be released. I’ve done my best saving money, working, and raising our 1-year-old son, but unfortunately, it’s not enough.

I’m currently 8 months pregnant with our daughter and having heart problems. This past week, I spent 4 days in the hospital because of my heart condition. My cardiologist ordered me to stop working because of the stress it puts on my heart, which not only affects me but our daughter as well. As much as I’d like to continue working to ensure my family is okay for these next couple of weeks, I also have to think about my daughter and how my family needs me. With that being said, I’d appreciate anybody who would like to help our family. My son and I will be heading to where our family is located to meet up with Angel as soon as he is deported.

Angel has signed self-deportation so he can be released and start working to help our family. We just need some help for the first couple of weeks; we don’t know what to expect or when to expect his release. Angel is not a criminal or a violent person. Anybody who knows Angel or has met him knows he’s a great guy with a good heart. Angel has always been a helping and understanding person. We are very thankful to anybody that helps out or just takes the time to read about our current situation.
