Hi, we are Andro & Eve and we are a not for profit queer arts organisation who have been working with the LGBTQ+ community and friends in Sheffield and South Yorkshire since 2016. We collaborate with artists to deliver accessible creative workshops and events to celebrate queer culture and connect our community.

We are asking for your support because we need funding, not just to carry on doing what we're doing, but to grow. It's scary to say this, but right now we are not sustainable. Everything has just got harder - rising transphobia, rising costs and those cost increases leading to more demand and more competition for grant funding, on which we have relied for our community focused activities. In order to survive the last 5 years, we have been incredibly resourceful, but our community has told us that they want more, and to be more involved.

In response to this community feedback we’re looking to develop a new membership scheme for Andro & Eve, but we need your support to do this. Your donation means more events, more opportunities, more friends and a stronger community. This initial investment is vital to help us ensure we launch the membership in a safe, fair and efficient way. We need this investment now so we can carry out this vital work over the summer, ready for an Autumn launch.

Becoming more self-sufficient is how we can survive and give more, building a stronger community around our programme of creative offerings. Without additional funding we are in a precarious situation; so many other organisations are closing and we want to ensure we are here for the long run.

Now more than ever, us LGBTQ+ folks need safer spaces where we can feel joy and hope. A donation means Andro & Eve can still be here in years to come, making queer art accessible and advocating for the rights of the most marginalised in our community.

About Andro and Eve and how we want to grow

Andro and Eve was established in 2016 in response to the lack of accessible and inclusive opportunities to enjoy queer culture in Sheffield not focused around late night venues or drinking. We focus on platforming voices that are otherwise marginalised, to reflect and celebrate the diversity that exists within the LGBTQIA community and challenge ongoing discrimination and injustice. We are proud to be led by and for the community we serve.

Since our founding we have produced 64 independent LGBTQ+ cultural events, alongside commissions for other organisations, engaging with over 4,350 participants and audience members. We have created one of the UK’s largest drag king cabarets, The Kingdom Come, helping support the explosion of this exciting art form. Our queer cabaret, A Reyt Queer Do has been providing a platform for fresh queer talent since 2017. Since 2021 we have delivered Gender Awareness training to hundreds of people, working with organisations across the UK to develop understanding around equity for trans and non-binary people.

As one audience member in 2024 said; "There are some spaces and gatherings that feel like hope, and like a different world is possible, Ando & Eve is one of those spaces"

This fundraiser will support us as we put in place key infrastructure, technology and skills to help us build a membership scheme. This winter, we carried out further consultation with you, our community, and from a feasibility study, developed a new business plan. This gave us the confidence that we can deliver a new varied year long events programme and accessible membership scheme. This would mark a new chapter for Andro & Eve.

Our membership scheme will support a new programme of specially curated events and socials that will be open to members only, alongside a range of other benefits. Our main programme of large scale events, and creative workshops will still be open to everyone regardless of whether you are a member or not.
