Help Andrew Surprise his wife with Paternity Leave.

Hi friends, family, and community,

I’m reaching out with humility and gratitude as we prepare to welcome our third baby into the world. This should be a time filled purely with excitement to meet our little girl, but it’s also come at a time of significant transition and financial strain for our family.

We recently moved to Alaska, a big step we took to build a better future for our family. We love it here. It really feels like amazing opportunities are within our grasp. Unfortunately, shortly after the move, I was out of work for about a month, which put us behind on expenses as we were still settling into a new place, new costs of living, and a new routine.

I now work a 7-on / 7-off schedule, which is great long-term, but it makes the timing of the birth tricky. Depending on when labor happens, taking time off to be present for the delivery and support my wife may mean unpaid time or added strain right when we’re already stretched thin. Even with working extra 12hr shifts every off week, and doing deliveries on the side it’s not enough to take time off from work. It feels like I’m facing an ultimatum of seeing the birth of my daughter, caring for my wife and children when my wife will desperately need the support but falling dangerously behind on payments, or the heartbreaking possibility of not being there and not falling behind financially.

I haven’t made my wife aware that I’ve created a go fund me. As of right now she is planning on having the baby and returning to normal life caring for our children and home, as soon as she’s discharged from the hospital, without being able to take the time that she needs to physically recover, because she believes it’s just a necessary sacrifice so we don’t fall behind. I can’t let that happen. I would like to surprise her with the relief of the rest and care she deserves.

I’m not asking for help lightly. Any support raised will go toward:
• Covering essential living expenses during the birth window
• Medical and baby-related costs
• Allowing us the flexibility to be present and focused on welcoming our baby and allowing my wife time to safely heal and rest without the immediate pressure of finances

I know we’re not unique in this struggle, I know lots of families are in similar or worse situations, so
It’s hard to even ask, but I thought it might be worth a shot, if it can literally buy me even a little time.

If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send encouragement, we are deeply thankful. Your support helps us focus on what matters most right now—family, health, and bringing a new life into the world.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of our journey.

With gratitude,
Andrew and Family
