We’re calling on you to help send Andrea Blanton, founder of Food Earth Birth, to the Black Food Sovereignty Conference, where folks, especially from the South, will convene to strategize, collaborate, and vision a liberated food future. This is not just a conference, it is a vital gathering of seasoned growers, healers, educators, and food justice warriors.

The good news is Andrea’s ticket, housing, and meals during the conference are already covered. What we need now is to raise $3,000 by September 28th to cover airfare, childcare back home, and essential home support like rent, gas, and groceries so Andrea can be fully present and grounded in this powerful space.

Food is power. Food is ritual. Food is resistance. Andrea has been doing this work for over a decade, from farmers markets and school gardens to herbal teas and small-batch catering. Whether she is teaching children to garden, providing healing meals, or grounding birthing mothers with herbal wisdom, Andrea lives and breathes community nourishment.

Her journey began as a little girl in Chicago helping her father and grandmothers in the kitchen. From Spelman College to Georgia farms, from birthing rooms to farmers markets, Andrea has cultivated a life rooted in ancestral knowledge, food justice, and care work. Now she has the opportunity to sit at the table with other Black food leaders to strategize around sovereignty, sustainability, and systemic change, and she needs community support to get there.
