Hi everyone! I’m reaching out to gather support for a long-time family friend who is preparing to return to Mexico after more than 30 years in the United States. Like many immigrant elders today, he has chosen to leave on his own terms. With the increase in surveillance, detentions, and community fear, it’s understandable that many long-time immigrants no longer feel safe simply moving through their daily lives. No one should have to live with that kind of uncertainty.

He has spent decades working under the sun in landscaping and construction, supporting family here and abroad, and showing remarkable resilience through every challenge that comes with being undocumented in this country. His dedication, his quiet strength, and the sacrifices he made over the years have shaped the lives of many around him.

As he prepares to return home and begin the next chapter of his life, we want to honor everything he has poured into this community. Supporting our Latinx immigrant elders is a way of acknowledging the foundation they built and the doors they opened for younger generations.

Our hope is to surprise him with a financial gift that can help him settle into retirement with comfort and dignity. Any contribution, in any amount, will make a meaningful difference.
