My name is Amy, and I’m reaching out for help as my family faces an incredibly difficult time. I gave birth to my youngest in June and have been on maternity leave since then. Before my leave, I worked full-time and managed all my bills on my own. When I went on leave, my kids’ father took over the financial responsibilities so I could focus on caring for our children and the home. Unfortunately, I only received partial income for a short period, and when I applied for childcare assistance, I was denied by the city and placed on a waiting list. Without childcare, I haven’t been able to return to work, and I don’t have any family nearby who can help.

I’m still on leave, and while my job is protected, I’m not receiving any pay. In November, I received an eviction notice. My car insurance is about to be canceled, and my car is at risk of being repossessed every month. Our internet and power were almost disconnected, but I was able to set up a payment plan to keep them on. I’ve reached out to my family, but they’re unable to help financially right now. I’m doing everything I can, but I’m scared of losing everything we’ve worked so hard for.

The funds from this fundraiser will help me pay my car note and car insurance, which are both due in the next few days. They will also help cover rent if needed, and allow me to buy winter gear for my kids and clothes for my baby, who has outgrown everything I have for her. She’s only six months old but already wearing 18-month clothes, and what I bought for her is out of season for winter in New York. Your support will help us get through this month and keep my family safe, warm, and together until my kids’ father starts his new job and we’re back on our feet.
