Hi All

My name is Hope Lake and this fundraiser has been created for our friends Brett and Amy, by Amy's "nugget crew" - Myself, Bev, Nic and Jodie. We want nothing more than to ease their burden and surround both of them with love and care during this incredibly difficult time.

We all know that life can change in an instant and for our dear friends Amy and Brett, it has.

In July 2024, Brett Johnstone was diagnosed with advanced renal cancer. It has since spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, abdomen, and liver. After many months of treatment and hope, doctors have now told Brett he has less than six months to live.

Brett is just 56 years old. A devoted partner, father, and friend, he is facing this devastating reality with quiet strength and courage. He has five children of his own, and together with Amy, they share a blended family of nine amazing grown-up children.

Amy and Brett have been together for seven years. In that time, they’ve worked hard to build a life together, full of love, shared dreams, and the determination to stay strong through life’s inevitable challenges. They’ve always made it through by leaning on each other, united in their commitment and care.

Now, they’re facing the hardest challenge of all.

Amy works full-time as an Educational Support Assistant in a local school and is also studying to become a fully qualified teacher. Brett is no longer able to work. Although they are trying to hold everything together, what they truly want, more than anything, is the chance for Amy to be at home with Brett. To be there for him, care for him, and spend every precious moment they have left together.

We are raising funds to help ease the financial pressure on this beautiful couple, so Amy can take time away from work and focus on what really matters: love, presence, and peace in Brett’s final months.

All donations will go directly toward:

• Covering the mortgage on their family home

• Paying essential bills and everyday living expenses

• Providing groceries and care supplies

• Allowing Amy to step away from work to care for Brett full-time, without added financial stress

Brett wants to spend the time he has left at home, surrounded by love. Your support can help make that possible.
