Help Amy and Her Daughter Avoid Homelessness

Donation protected
I am reaching out on behalf of my sister, Amy Swanson. She has unfortunately dealt with numerous chronic health conditions and trauma throughout most of her 37 years of life. She's a licensed massage therapist of 18 years, a single mother, has an active domestic violence protection order against her ex-husband, she's physically and mentally disabled and struggling to get on Social Security Disability and Social Supplemental Income.

She had to stop working in August of 2021 because of Bilateral Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that didn't get better with physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, massage, or surgery, as well as having Idiopathic Peripheral Polyneuropathy. She isn't able to massage or do anything when her feet, legs, hands, and arms are numb and painful. She has trouble grasping things, drops things, and she falls on a regular basis.

She's had help with rent and bills from family until now, December 2024. She's no longer on a lease and not able to sign a new one without an income or cosigner. She's in danger of being evicted and homeless with her 12-year-old daughter, their belongings, and emotional support cats. Her court hearing for Social Security is at the end of March 2025, and she'll get a determination letter sometime in April 2025.

She's currently being seen for over 30 different health conditions, some of which are life-threatening, and she's been seen for approximately 43 different health conditions since applying for Social Security. Conditions I already mentioned, as well as: tendinitis, superficial chronic gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Raynaud's disease, major depressive disorder, anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, polycystic ovarian syndrome, chronic pain syndrome, chronic pansinusitis with nasal polyps, allergies, TMJ (jaw issues), pinched nerve in her neck, asthma, tinnitus, uterine fibroids, anorexia nervosa, and many, many more. She's at risk for falls, struggles with stairs, and due to anorexia, she's at risk for heart failure, cardiac arrest, sudden death syndrome, and more.

She doesn't have anywhere where she, her daughter, and their cats can stay. She's allergic to dogs, mold, dust, dust mites, and cockroaches. She's tried contacting different organizations that help with rental assistance without much luck. St. Vincent De Paul helped with $400. Unfortunately, at this time of year, organizations are out of funding, or some aren't able to help with her unique and difficult situation because she's not able to work. She's tried calling 211, going to the Department of Social and Health Services, and has gone through their lists of resources. She's had help trying to get rental assistance from doctors, a few case managers, she's reached out to her daughter's school, even did a Google search and contacted more organizations without any luck.

We don't know where else to turn to, except to you, friends, family, and the community via GoFundMe. She's needing help with rent for her 2-bedroom apartment, bills, and basic necessities, getting her caught up for December is $475, and for 4 months, January 2025 through April 2025. Her rent (+ w/s/g) is $1,850 a month, with bills and basic necessities she needs $2,300 a month to survive. For 4 months, that's $9,200. She also has a cat that needs veterinary care, which is an unknown amount at this time. She occasionally gets child support, but it's not consistent or reliable. Helping her cat get veterinary care, exam, and lab work will likely be in the hundreds or more. So, I'm setting the fundraising goal amount to $10,000. We're hoping for a miracle with her ongoing chronic health conditions and getting her the help she desperately needs medically and financially.
