Help Amena Evacuate Her Husband

UPDATE: you guys are unbelievably incredible. We raised $15k in one hour for Amena’s husband. As mentioned in my video on Instagram - Amena would like to attempt to raise enough for her in-laws evacuation as well. Total for all 3 people is $36k (so looking to raise an additional $24k). I will be opening the fundraiser back up and if donations continue to come in I will cap it immediately when we hit this goal. Hi! My name is Jenan - and I’m running this campaign for my beautiful cousin Amena - who was forcibly displaced from Gaza nearly two months ago, and has finally decided to share her story with the world in an effort to raise enough funds to now evacuate her husband who is currently still stuck in Gaza. I will be transferring the funds to Amena’s sister - Dania - should we be able to raise them for her.

Me, my beautiful cousin Amena and my beautiful Aunt (Amena’s mom) this summer in Palestine - this was our first reunion in 18 years.

Hello everybody I am Amena Bukhari from Jerusalem I have been married to my husband Mohye for 15 years. Our life was so nice but it saddens me how much it has changed and became so difficult. Through all that has happened to our beautiful Gaza throughout the years we have always been grateful to be alive to enjoy the city, despite every two or three years being forced to live through a war in Gaza.

Through it all we stayed together with my in-laws in Gaza, and survived together, and I never imagined leaving our beautiful home but this time the war was different.

My husband insisted I evacuate Gaza when a second opportunity arose (I declined the first time) as the situation became increasingly dangerous and terrifying. We had already been displaced twice before I agreed to leave (I have a Jerusalem ID, Mohye does not).

I’ve been working to find an exit route for my husband and his in-laws, and every day it seems that the cost of life is increasing. Last week it was $9,000 USD per family member - today to us $12,000 USD to evacuate a single person out of Gaza through Egypt. I’m so saddened to be in this position of feeling like we’re being extorted with no promise of success but we’ve been left with no other options.

We understand this is risky.

I’m hoping to raise enough to at least evacuate my husband and then work on my two in-laws.
