I'm Amber. My life changed instantly when a stranger's car crashed into my house after the driver suffered a diabetes blackout, destroying the front wall and living room. As repairs began, things only got worse—inspectors found asbestos throughout the house, and my insurance company refused to cover the removal. Because of a tough financial situation, I had canceled coverage on everything inside the house last January, hoping to save money. Now, the insurance company is only covering the bare minimum, and I'm left with a huge burden. The impact of accident was so severe that it even cracked a wall in a far corner of the house. However, the insurance company says they won't do more. On top of that, my lawn is now full of millon pieces of glass from a shattered big living room window, and insurance will not cover the very expensive cost to replace it. I also have aradon under my house. The hit was so strong and we evaluation the damage right now.
This couldn't have come at a worse time. Back in 2024, I was scammed out of a large sum of money, and the police were never able to recover it. Since then, I've been working two jobs just to keep up with debts and basic needs. I'm an empty nest single mom, living alone, and have always managed to figure things out on my own, but this house crash has pushed me to my limit. I physically can't take on a third job, and now I'm living in a hotel with my three pets—my corgi Like and two rescue cats, Sam and Max. The house is winterized, and the contractor says I'll be stuck in this situation for at least a month.
I came to the US from Ukraine 12 years ago, and when the war started, I did everything I could to help other Ukrainians settle here. I've always believed in hard work and never thought I would need to ask for help. But now, with my home damaged and my finances stretched to the breaking point, I have no choice. The funds from this fundraiser will go toward the insurance deductible, asbestos removal and ventilation cleaning, replacing lost furniture like my couch and TV cabinet, buying new pet supplies since all their toys, food, and bowls were lost, and redoing the lawn that is now full of glass. I also need help caring for my pets and covering temporary extra expenses while living in the hotel. Insurance covers hotel costs but nothing extra. I had to pay even pet fees. Any support you can give would mean the world to me and my pets. Thank you for reading my story and considering a donation.
