Hello,

Our amazing Mom, Amber, has recently been diagnosed with cancer. She recently discovered she has a 3-inch tumor pushing on her nerves in her left lower skull, which is a very rare and difficult tumor to treat due to its placement. It is a fast-growing malignant tumor that is causing severe symptoms. She’s lost the ability to hear out of her left ear and has been struggling with balance issues, severe vertigo, and frequent headaches. Our family is facing one of the hardest times, but we know we will be able to get rid of it and live a healthy life! If any of you know our mom, Amber, she is strong, caring, selfless, hardworking, an amazing mother, and a friend! She’s always been our rock through everything we encountered, and now it’s our time to be her rock through this journey!

She has currently seen multiple doctors and specialists at Duke Hospital in Raleigh/Durham and has undergone all the scans and tests. They have currently given her two options which are very invasive and will change her life drastically. Although Duke is an amazing hospital along with the doctors, we are seeking a second opinion and hopefully a new and better treatment option at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. MD Anderson is one of the best in the US for skull base tumors, and we want to make sure we give our mom the best care and options for her to kick this. Duke has suggested radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, which would unfortunately result in our mother not being able to live the life she currently does now, but we are hoping MD Anderson might give us other options and a second opinion on diagnostic and treatment options. We are hoping to get out to Houston next week for tests and treatments as the tumor is high grade and continues to grow. With travel, medical bills, time away from work, and not all tests being covered by insurance, we are reaching out to our community for help. Every donation, no matter the size, will help more than we could ever say to help our mom get the treatment she needs to get her tumor removed and allow her to continue to live the life she has been!
