In April, 2025, after months of battling ever changing and multiplying symptoms including balance issues, hearing loss, dizziness, and brain fog - Amanda sought medical attention and ultimately was strongly encouraged to get an MRI, where doctors discovered an Acoustic Neuroma.
An acoustic neuroma is a benign, slow-growing tumor that develops on the vestibular nerve, which connects the inner ear to the brain. In Amanda’s case, due to the size of the tumor, the pressure that it is putting on her cerebellum and brainstem, and the potential for bigger issues to arise, the medical staff advised surgery ASAP. After meeting with her Neurosurgeon, the date was set, and Amanda’s surgery will take place on June 17th.
Recovery for a surgery of this kind can vary, but Amanda will be out of work at least 6-12 weeks. Along with Amanda’s loss of income, Shane will need time away from work to support Amanda in her recovery while juggling the ongoing needs of their 4 kids. Amanda does have medical insurance, but the exact portion the Drause’s may be responsible to cover is still unknown.
This is our opportunity to support our dear friends with a gift and a share!
