My name is Amanda. I am a single grandmother raising 2 boys, ages 11 and 7.5. They have been with me for 7.5 years, and they have extensive medical histories themselves. They both have a rare genetic disorder called Stickler Syndrome. This, in itself, has brought them a whole book of medical conditions that directly correlate to the Stickler Syndrome.

In the past 12 months, they have had a combined total of over 100 doctor's appointments, and as they grow, so do these visits. The youngest had a tracheostomy when he came home and a G-Tube. When everything happened, and I took emergency custody of these sweet boys, my husband at the time changed the locks on the doors, and I wasn’t allowed back home with the boys. I had to rebuild our lives step by step. I do have full custody, and their mom keeps engaged as much as medically possible for herself, but the other party not at all.

In researching possible issues as I age, I need help in getting all of the legal stuff situated and court documents in hand! I want to protect these boys in the event of my demise and any assets or benefits they could get in such an event. With the medical costs for them both and daily living expenses, I just can’t seem to hold anything back to pay for the legal services I would need to get this completed. On Christmas Eve, I had to pay out almost $1,000.00 to get our heat fixed. So as you can see, it’s just not easy on just me and my income alone. They deserve not to have that worry. They need to be able to know what’s next and have a plan ahead of time to protect them. That’s all I want for them. In their world of differences already, they need clarity and understanding. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and used for their benefit and best interest!
