I’ve gone back and forth about sharing this, but I want people to understand the full impact of what this ruling has done to our lives.

In 2021, my ex-husband lived with me and my son, Liam, rent free while we were planning our future together. During that time, he was able to save money toward the down payment for the home we later moved into together.

In 2021, we moved into what we believed would be our family home. I was pregnant with our son, Bellamy, at the time.

We separated at the end of 2024. He moved in with his parents and lived expense free over the past year while legally fighting me for the house.

For the past year, my children and I have lived in the home at the center of this case. I stayed, paid all of the household bills, legal fees, and carried the financial responsibility alone because I was trying to preserve stability for my sons while fighting to keep the only home they had known.

I truly believed that sacrifice — staying, paying, holding everything together — would matter.

Instead, the court awarded the home to my ex-husband, ordered us to vacate, and required me to pay $16,000, leaving me with no equity and no home despite everything I put into maintaining it.

What makes this even harder is that this outcome was not just shocking to me. My attorney, who has handled many family law cases, expressed that this was one of the most unjust and one-sided rulings she has seen. I also consulted with an appellate attorney, who identified serious legal concerns — but appealing would require tens of thousands of dollars with no guaranteed outcome.

What hurts most is what this has done to my children.

My oldest son, Liam, lived in that house and had a relationship with my ex-husband for five years. Regardless of biology, that bond was real to him. Since the separation, that relationship has ended by the choice of my ex-husband without even a goodbye to Liam. Liam has had to grieve not only the loss of his home, but the loss of a trusted parental figure in his life.

I explored every possible option to fight this outcome, but the reality is that continuing to fight would cost far more than the judgment itself. I’m now doing everything I can to comply with the court and protect peace and stability for my kids moving forward.

I ask that you please keep my boys in your thoughts and prayers — prayers for Bellamy, who will now have to adjust to living in the same house his mom and older brother were removed from, a house he has never known without us both in it. And prayers for Liam, who will still have to go to this house for pick-ups and drop-offs of Bellamy and see a home that was once his.

This financial burden, combined with uprooting our lives, has been overwhelming. If you’re able to help — whether by donating or sharing — it would mean more than I can express.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for seeing the human cost of a decision that changed everything for us.
