Help Alysha Have a Safe, Loving Home
Donation protected
My daughter Alysha was born with half a heart and has endured four open heart surgeries since birth. She is one of only about 550 people in the world living with her rare heart condition. Alysha is intellectually disabled, and I am her mother, payee, and full-time caregiver. Both of us are disabled and rely on social security, which makes it difficult to provide everything she needs.
Our trailer home is in urgent need of repair. Mold and a weak floor have made it unsafe, and the bathroom needs a complete remodel before Alysha can safely return to her bedroom. The cost of materials and labor is overwhelming, and it may be more practical to find a newer, safer trailer for her. Alysha also needs a portable oxygen unit, a scooter to help her get around, and ideally a hospital bed for her comfort. Insurance does not cover all of these essentials, and her health is fragile as she awaits a heart and liver transplant. She is currently on palliative care, and I do everything I can to make her life as comfortable and joyful as possible.
Alysha loves country music and dreams of meeting Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire. More than anything, she wants to be back in her own bedroom, surrounded by the things she loves. As her mother, I am also facing my own health battles, including lupus, mitochondrial disease, and the need for another hip replacement and cataract surgery. Despite these challenges, I am committed to caring for Alysha and making the rest of her life as enriched as possible. Any support—whether through donations, sharing our story, or community help—would mean the world to us and help Alysha have the safe, loving home she deserves.
