I am 46 years old and have faced a troubled childhood filled with trauma and instability. Growing up, I lived in and out of group homes and foster homes, and for many years, I carried resentment and made excuses for my choices. Despite these challenges, I graduated from Rock Island High School in Illinois, earned a football scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, and went from a 1.5 GPA to honor roll status by graduation. I was homecoming king and male athlete of the year in 1997 in the Quad Cities.
While at the University of Wisconsin, I finished my first semester with a 2.75 GPA, but the pain from my childhood led me to leave college and lose my scholarship. After leaving college, I worked many different jobs and struggled with responsibility. From 2016 to 2024, I went in and out of prison as a result of my choices. In 2008, I accepted the Lord as my savior, but for 18 years, I backslid. Going in and out of prison became a blessing, as it led me to enroll in a Bible college course and gain a deeper understanding of Jesus. Today, I walk in faith and repentance, committed to rebuilding my life.
I need help attaining my driver's license, which requires paying off what I owe and seeing a hearing officer. Once I have my license, I can apply for the CTA second chance program, the Pace program, and explore getting my CDL to become a truck driver. It will also allow me to visit my children and support my reentry into society. I am humbly asking for help in Jesus' name. Your support will help me move forward, rebuild my life, and become a new creature in Christ. Thank you for listening, and God bless you all.
