Jarrod and I have had the privilege of fostering for over 15 years. Many of you have loved and supported our family through all the changing seasons. Many of you have even been able to show love to the many different children who have been a part of our family. Our support system is truly amazing.

I am reaching out beyond our usual support system at this time. This wonderful young woman, who is almost 18 years old, was our very first bonus daughter. Alona was chosen for our family on Valentine's Day over 15 years ago. She has always been, and continues to be, deeply cherished by our family. While we have been able to observe her growth and offer support from afar, we have consistently hoped to assist her in achieving all that we know she is capable of.

Alona will transition out of foster care in January. She is also a wonderful mother to her beautiful mini-me. Jarrod and I are currently loving and spoiling her little one in our home. Support will be essential to help them establish the life they both deserve. We have never asked for help from our community; that is how much we believe in Alona and her future.

Alona will have ongoing support from DCS, who has created a great team to help her succeed. She will also have some monthly income from state programs for children that leave foster care without permanency. They will also have me and Jarrod, who are privileged to get to love both of them.

The needs are simple: we are in the process of finding housing. She will be getting an apartment in the coming month, and we need to furnish it. She is starting with just her and her daughter's personal items. So if it belongs in an apartment, she needs it.

We also will need all the money it will take for deposits and first and last month's rent. She will also need her refrigerator and pantry full until we can get all her programs started.
