Last September, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my last baby. She was unexpected but so deeply wanted, and her memory is always with us. By the grace of God, I am now 24 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby girl, and our family is filled with hope and anticipation. However, at my 20-week anatomy scan, I was diagnosed with Vasa Previa—a rare and serious condition where my baby's umbilical cord is lying across my cervix. This means she can't be delivered safely without a C-section, and the risk is high if I go into labor naturally. My doctors and I hoped the situation would improve, but it hasn't, so we've made the difficult decision to transfer my care to a more advanced hospital an hour and a half from home. I'll be admitted at 30 weeks and, if all goes well, deliver my baby girl by C-section around 35 weeks.
Because of these precautions, I have to be out of work until after my recovery, and our family is facing a lot of challenges. We already have five wonderful kids at home, and my husband can't stay with me long-term, but he and the kids will visit as much as possible. The funds raised will help cover travel expenses for my family to visit, help with bills as we lose my income, and provide for baby supplies we no longer have after donating everything from our last child. Family is helping as much as they can, but times are tough for everyone. Even if you can't donate, sharing my fundraiser or registry would mean the world to us. Any support is deeply appreciated, and I am forever grateful for your kindness and for taking the time to read our story.
