Help Alexis Shine at Homecoming 2025
Sometimes, the strongest people are the ones who have quietly faced battles the world may never see. Alexis, a sophomore at Johansen High School, is one of those people. She is only in the 10th grade, but already her life has been filled with more challenges than most of us face in a lifetime. Yet through it all, Alexis has shown remarkable strength, resilience, and an unshakable determination to keep moving forward.
From a young age, Alexis has faced family struggles that would have left many feeling defeated. Add to that the heavy weight of ongoing mental health challenges, and you might expect someone in her shoes to give up hope. But Alexis has done the opposite. She continues to fight every day to grow, to dream, and to reach for the life she knows she deserves.
Recently, her family overcame something that no child should ever have to experience: homelessness. For a period of time, stability, safety, and even the simplest comfort of having a place to call “home” slipped away. But Alexis and her family never stopped fighting. They worked hard, leaned on faith and community, and finally—through God’s grace—they were able to move into a new home. This fresh start has brought so much joy, but it has also come with new challenges. Starting over means there is little left for extras, and even simple things most teenagers take for granted are now out of reach.
And this is where Alexis’s dream comes in.
Like every teenager, Alexis has a dream of being able to experience her high school homecoming—a milestone moment she will never get back. This year, Homecoming is on September 20th, and Alexis longs to attend the game and the dance, to feel beautiful in a new dress, to have her nails and hair done, to laugh with her friends, and to be celebrated for who she is. For her, this isn’t just about a dance—it’s about finally having the chance to feel normal, to feel special, to feel like she belongs.
But here’s the truth: the costs of homecoming—the dress, shoes, hair, nails, tickets—are simply more than the family can manage right now. And for a young girl who has overcome homelessness, who has carried the weight of mental health struggles, and who continues to fight every single day to believe in herself, missing this moment would be heartbreaking.
That’s where we come in.
This is our chance as a community to rally behind Alexis, to show her that she is not invisible, that her dreams matter, and that her courage inspires us all. Supporting Alexis is about so much more than a dress or a dance. It’s about giving her the chance to walk into that gymnasium with her head held high, to feel radiant and confident, and to create joyful memories that she will carry in her heart forever.
Think back to your own teenage years. Remember how important those milestone nights were? The excitement of getting ready, the feeling of walking into the room with your friends, the laughter, the music, the memories you still carry today. That’s what Alexis dreams of. And with your help, she can have it.
Every single contribution counts. Whether it’s $5, $50, or more, your support will help cover the essentials Alexis needs for this once-in-a-lifetime night. Together, we can make sure she has her dress, her shoes, her nails, her ticket—and most importantly, the confidence and joy of knowing she is loved and supported.
✨ When you give, you aren’t just helping Alexis go to a dance—you are helping her heal, grow, and believe in her own worth. You are reminding her that her story matters, that her community cares, and that no matter what she has been through, she deserves to be celebrated.
Let’s be the village that surrounds Alexis with love and encouragement. Let’s give her a night where the only thing she needs to think about is how much fun she’s having, how beautiful she feels, and how proud she should be of everything she has overcome.
Thank you in advance for standing with Alexis. Thank you for believing in her. Thank you for making it possible for her to walk into Homecoming 2025 with a smile that tells the world: I made it. I belong. I am loved.
Please donate and share Alexis’s story. Together, we can give her the homecoming night she deserves.
