Help Alexis Fight For her Life

Hello Everyone,

We are creating this Go Fund Me Account for Alexis Sample, Daughter of Tiffany Kasten and William Sample, sister of christian, Serenity, and Savannah. Poor Lexi is having a rough time right now, in the ICU at Cardinal Glennon, hours away from home, trying desperately to get rid of her severe lung Infection. This infection has gotten so bad it has eaten a hole right through her lung.

As many of you know, Lexi was born with a rare condition in which her body could not produce myelin cells. We all need these in order to function normally. Her parents were faced with a very tough decision nobody would ever want to decide, of whether to keep their baby girl on life support or not. They made the decision to keep her on and embark on this difficult but very special journey. They would very quickly have to learn to communicate with their daughter without words and without the most commonly readable body language altogether. This was no easy task, but in order to keep this girl alive and as healthy as possible, there was no other choice, it had to be done. And it was... beautifully.

Keeping a close eye over the years and dedicating her love and attention, Tiffany (Lexi’s mom and main caregiver) would learn a special language with her daughter nobody else can begin to decipher. And because of this extremely special connection, Lexi who was only projected to live a short lifespan of roughly 8-10 years, has successfully made it to 21 years old!!

Besides when she was a much younger child, Lexi has only had to go to the hospital a handful of times all due to her around-the-clock care and attention of her devoted sweet Mama. But unfortunately this time, this infection came on too strong and too swift for any preventative measures to have taken place. So as soon as Tiffany knew something was really hurting her baby girl, she took her in immediately. First, she was taken to the hospital in her hometown of Perryville and then very quickly helicoptered over to St. Louis where they could give her the proper care that she would need. This is where they would find out the severity of her lung infection and that she will have to remain in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital for an indefinite amount of time. While her family have to dip into their savings in order to stay close by, in a hotel.

To add insult to injury, Lexi’s sweet selfless mother, Tiffany, literally lost her job the very next day because she had to make the choice of either saving her daughters life or to go to work. It goes without saying, this was absolutely ruthless and inhumane behavior from her previous workplace, but it has now added even more extreme amounts of extra financial stress on her and her family as they navigate this difficult time. But nonetheless, her family is pushing through strong and focusing solely on the recovery of Alexis.

To many, Alexis will not be much more than a picture and a sad story. But to this family, especially her Mother, this young lady is the heart of their family, the first born, the inspiration, and the epitome of pure love that this family is all about and demonstrates on a daily basis.

Please find it in your heart to help Alexis and her family alleviate some of the impending financial burdens that are coming fast and heavy. This family needs the community to help... and most importantly your prayers.

“ Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28.
