Help Alexandre Bernard Heal and Rebuild

Donation protected
My family and I want to reach out to the community for help. My dear twin brother, single father of 2, loved son and loved by many family members, Alexandre Bernard, jumped in front of a train on 6/10/24 in France while he was visiting family. My brother has been battling mental illness for 28 years. He lives in Derby, Connecticut. He got laid off in February 2023 because his company was bought out. Since then, he hasn't been able to find another employment. Despite taking medication, his mental illness made him distrust the system, family, and friends. He was very isolated, and he didn't reach out for help and didn't go to the courts to ask for a modification petition of child support he was paying his ex.

He is now in high debt for paying his medical insurance through COBRA and continuous payments to child support, which he could no longer afford. He used credit cards to pay his bills and maxed out 8 of them. Miraculously, my brother has survived the accident. He has severe injuries to his hips, pelvis, and legs. He has gone through 4 major surgeries, he will be immobilized in a hospital bed for up to 4 months and will need years of physical therapy. He also needs to get psychological help to get his mental illness under control. His medications were no longer working. We, as a family, are now in charge of Alexandre for him to recover.

We are asking you for help with paying for a financial advisor, family lawyer (to get a modification petition to his child support case), medical bills, including COBRA, so he can maintain his insurance (his insurance will only cover 80 percent. We have to pay the remaining 20 percent.) Even though the French government usually takes care of paying health insurance for its citizens, my brother doesn't qualify for this because he worked and resided in the US for more than 25 years. Alexandre no longer gets income from unemployment and doesn't qualify anymore because he is incapacitated. He doesn't qualify for SSI because he got hurt in another country and is not residing in the US at this time. I am so grateful that my brother is still alive, and we are very blessed as a family to still have him with us. We do need help to support him financially, and any donations for his cause would be truly appreciated. Thank you and we will keep you updated on his recovery.
