Our daughter (Alexandra) is a nurse, who was married to a fireman. The marriage seemed ideal before their relationship started to disintegrate. He abused his children, threatened and abused our daughter, developed a habit of paying for sexual relations with many women putting our daughters health and safety at risk . He promised her that she would never collect a penny of child support or alimony. She filed for child support and worked with a lawyer to protect and support her little family. He was true to his word and hasn’t provided any support for her and her boys in over 7- months she works full time and often over time with a special needs child that is no easy task and often does not sleep because he is a safety risk and has trouble sleeping.

She’s been struggling to pay her bills such as home, utilities, food, and specialized treatment for one of her sons who is autistic. She took her case to family court, and was immediately granted a restraining order, and was awarded child support for the children, however she has yet to see any money while the bills continue to mount.

She has worked so hard (double shifts) and even with support from her family, she still has little to show for her efforts. It was at this point that we realized that we needed help from our community. The mechanisms of the law can sometimes work slowly and in the meantime financial needs must be met.
