Hi,

My name is Alex. I am currently 22 years of age and I am living with Hypomyelination with Atrophy of the Basal Ganglia and Cerebellum (H-ABC). For those who do not know what this is, it is a disorder that affects the nervous system and the body’s action and movement functions. As a result, I have been bound to my bed for most of my life due to my body’s inability to move and function regularly. When I was smaller, my mother used to take me to the zoo and the aquarium, they were my favourite places to visit. Since I have transitioned into adulthood, my quality of life has severely deteriorated. I have completely lost my mobility, my speech and my ability to ingest food. I am no longer able to enjoy the little things in life, and sadly I cannot travel to my most favourite places anymore. This is due to not having a suitable vehicle that can transport both myself and my electric wheelchair, to which I am very reliant on to get around, as I cannot travel without it.

My sisters Melissa, Amy & Emma have created this GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds to reach the goal of obtaining a suitable vehicle to transport me. Please help where you can by either donating a little or sharing this page amongst your family and friends. I would love the opportunity to again explore the outside world with my loved ones.

I no longer have my own voice, however if I did, I would offer my most sincere thank you for helping in whatever way you can. It may seem small to some, but regaining my mobility would allow me to enjoy the little things in life again and that would mean the absolute world to me.
