Help Alaia Stay Connected to Her Community

Donation protected
Alaia is a bright, beautiful five-year-old girl living on the Sunshine Coast. She lives with a rare genetic condition called Tatton-Brown-Rahman Syndrome, along with Autism (Level 3), and faces significant daily challenges. Alaia is a full-time wheelchair user, has a profound intellectual disability, experiences frequent ataxic movements, and lives with seizures that can occur without warning.

Despite everything she faces, Alaia deserves what every child deserves the chance to safely access her community, attend appointments, and experience the world beyond her home.

Right now, something as simple as leaving the house has become incredibly difficult and unsafe.

Alaia has outgrown the family’s standard car. Transferring her is no longer safe and requires heavy lifting and awkward positioning, putting both Alaia and her mum, Crystal, at risk of injury. Alaia requires constant head, neck, and postural support, and during transfers her safety cannot be reliably maintained.

Crystal is Alaia’s sole carer and supports her with incredible strength and love. However, she has already sustained muscle and rib injuries from lifting Alaia, and without the right support, these transfers will soon become impossible.

Despite extensive advocacy and multiple reports submitted to the NDIS outlining Alaia’s needs, funding for accessible transport has not been approved.

Without a safe transport solution, Alaia risks becoming isolated at home, unable to attend essential medical appointments, therapies, school, or participate in her community.

No contribution is too small — every dollar brings Alaia and her family closer to safe, accessible transport and a life beyond her home.

If you are not in a position to donate, sharing this page can help us reach those who can.

Thank you for helping give Alaia and her family the opportunity to stay connected, safe, and included.
