My name is Alaa Banat, and I am from Gaza. I graduated with a degree in Software Engineering, just like my husband, Anas. We are a young couple who believed that education could help us build a better future despite all the hardships we have lived through.

Only 35 days ago, we got married. Like any newly married couple, we dreamed of building a peaceful life together, continuing our education, and starting a loving family. We planned to pursue our Master’s degrees in Software Engineering and work toward successful careers that would allow us to support ourselves and help our community.

But life in Gaza has been incredibly difficult.

Instead of enjoying the beginning of our marriage and preparing for our future, we are struggling with instability, unemployment, and the painful reality of war and displacement. Opportunities for work are extremely limited, and building a normal life has become almost impossible.

Recently, we received life-changing news: I am pregnant with our first child.

This baby has become our greatest source of hope, but also our greatest responsibility. We want to provide our child with safety, education, stability, and a future filled with opportunities - things that are very difficult to secure under the current conditions we are living through.

Our dream is simple:

1- To continue our Master’s studies

2- To build stable careers in Software Engineering

3- To create a safe life for our unborn child

4- To escape the constant fear, uncertainty, and financial hardship surrounding us
