Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits on behalf of Mark and Katie Drakeley and their incredible son and our nephew, Aidan Drakeley, who was diagnosed in 2018 with a rare and progressive neurological disorder, Alexander's Disease. Aidan has most recently been in the hospital since April with complications from his disease and ultimately needed to undergo lifesaving tracheotomy surgery. This disease has continued to change every part of their daily life and requires critical adjustments to their home so Aidan can live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

Doctors and specialists have emphasized the urgent need for several home renovations, including a specialized bathroom on the 1st floor, widened doorways, medical equipment setup, electrical work, and a backup generator, to name just a few, all of which are essential to accommodate Aidan’s care needs and wheelchair mobility. In addition, as a part of Aidan’s return home he will require round the clock nursing care.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover these modifications, and the financial burden is more than the family can bear alone. That’s why we are asking for your support. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to making their home a safe haven for Aidan.

Mark and Katie are wonderful parents to four amazing children, Brendan, Bridget, Sean and Aidan. Mark recently retired after 34 years in the Upper Moreland Police Department protecting and serving the community. Katie works as the Director of Administration at O’Brien and Ryan LLP. All four kids attended St Jude Grade School and Mark and Katie remain parishioners at St. Jude.
