Help aid David Schmidt medical recovery journey

Hi, my name is Julie Kissick, and I have set up this GoFundMe to support my best friend Nichole Schmidt and her family. On February 25, Nichole's husband, David, was airlifted to UCLA Hospital with an aortic dissection, a serious life threatening condition requiring surgery. After being stabilized, he underwent an all-day surgery on March 11 to repair the dissection. He is currently under the care of Dr. Kwon at the Ronald Reagan UCLA medical center.

Nichole has been by his side throughout the hospitalization. David's mother, sister, and extended family have been helping Nichole with lodging and commutes to and from the hospital which has been a huge blessing. Also Nichole's parents are taking care of Megan and Dawson back home in Porterville, and for that they are extremely grateful.

This situation has inevitably taken a toll on their finances, especially since Nichole is self-employed and has been unable to work while David is hospitalized. She anticipates an adjusted, limited work schedule during David's at-home recovery. Any amount donated to this GoFundMe will go toward covering current bills and any additional expenses that may arise while David recovers.

This experience has already been incredibly stressful for the Schmidt family. I hope we can come together to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with medical emergencies, allowing David and Nichole to focus on his recovery. We are deeply thankful for all the prayers and support from friends and family, and we ask that you continue to keep the Schmidt family in your thoughts and prayers.
