URGENT: Help my son regain his mobility and return to therapy

Our lives changed in an instant.

On the night of January 24th, my car was stolen from right outside our apartment. While losing a vehicle is a major setback for any family, for us, it is a specialized crisis. My son was born with tibial hemimelia, a condition that requires him to wear prosthetic legs to move and explore the world.

When they took my car, they didn't just take a vehicle—they took my son’s ability to walk.

The theft has brought our lives to a standstill. Inside the car were:

• My son’s custom prosthetic legs

• His specialized car seat

• His stroller (located in the trunk)

• Our only reliable way to get to medical care

Because I no longer have transportation, I was forced to leave my job. More importantly, my son has now missed two weeks of school and his critical physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions. For a child who is already speech-delayed, these sessions are his lifeline to a more independent future. Every day he goes without his equipment and his therapy is a day his progress is hindered.

We have filed a police report, but unfortunately, there have been no leads. We are essentially starting back at square one. I am reaching out to my community to help us get back on our feet—literally.
