Hi, my name is Shelley Hudson, and I'm fundraising for an Afghan refugee family with four children. They've just been settled in the Los Angeles area (Tijunga, California, to be specific). The husband, Osman, helped the U.S. military for twelve years during the war, and I think we all owe him a debt of gratitude. Since arriving in the U.S., Osman has secured his driver license, SSN, and work card. We've gotten him a job with a friend who has a construction company (Hymax Construction), but he needs a vehicle to get there. Ideally, we'd like to get this beautiful family of six a van or SUV, but right now we'll be happy with four wheels and a tank of gas. My friend Angie has worked directly with the IRC and helped set up the family with furniture, clothing, and other needs already. Any contribution toward getting them mobile would be greatly appreciated. If we have additional funds after purchasing a vehicle, we'll use the remainder to pay registration fees, and as many months of insurance as possible. Thank you!

My name is Shelley Hudson, and I'm an interior designer in Hermosa Beach, California. My friend Angela Rupert is an attorney in Toluca Lake, California. She's been communicating directly with the IRC (agency in charge of refugee settlement) and has offered her rental home to incoming families in need. The IRC set her up with this particular family a few months ago, and she's helped them get settled into a residence, given them instuctions regarding many aspects of American life, including acquiring groceries, paying bills, etc. She's provided them with household goods, furniture, etc. My friend Mike Blaha, owner of Hymax Construction, has offered Osman, the father of the family, a job on one of his construction sites. The funds raised will be used for a vehicle for the family and will be registered to Osman. I will transfer all funds raised directly to Osman or to the seller of a vehicle on his behalf.
