Help Afghan artist Fatima Bahnia start her new French life

Donation protected
Fatima Bahnia is a young Afghan artist, who recently made the journey from Afghanistan to France. In Afghanistan, working as an artist has become virtually impossible: women are prevented from working in most jobs, painting human beings is now forbidden, and women need a mahram (male chaperon) to leave their house.

In 2024, Fatima collaborated with photographer Kiana Hayeri and researcher Mélissa Cornet to produce art for their project No Woman's Land, documenting the lives of Afghan women and girls under the Taliban. Fatima's work was exhibited in France and Europe, and published in newspapers and as part of the project's photobook. It will be showed in Sarajevo in April 2026. Thanks to this collaboration, Kiana and Mélissa were able to organise Fatima's visa for France, and welcomed her in Paris in February 2026.

Fatima is now in the French city of Poitiers, and needs your help to set up her future.

The funds will be used to reimburse Fatima's journey's expenses, including her ticket from Tehran to Paris plane ticket, food, her phone subscription, and of art supplies so she can get to do what she loves the most, while settling in her new home.

Anything extra will then be used for her future in France: French classes, art classes and art supplies, travelling around the country, etc.

Merci! Tachakor!
