Hi Friends!

I’ve created this GoFundMe because I need your help advocating for a youth in foster care. For the past year, I’ve volunteered with CASA of LA to provide 1-on-1 support to an incredible young man whose unfortunate circumstances placed him in the system. On any given day, there are about 30,000 children in foster care in LA County alone and over 350,000 across the United States.

Because of CASA of LA, I get the opportunity to advocate for one youth who happens to be an aspiring musician. When I met him, the first thing he mentioned was that he loved to write music. Eventually, he opened up enough to share some of the songs he’d recorded on his phone with me. I asked him if he’d like to record in a studio eventually, and of course, his eyes lit up because that’s his ultimate goal. The challenge is that recording and mixing a complete song is quite expensive, as my musician friends know all too well. Fortunately, I’ve met a producer who has offered to record and mix one of his songs — at less than half his usual rate. My goal is to support this young man as he transitions into adulthood, and this is the next big step for him.
