Help Adri and Nick Stiles have a Baby!

Adri and I haven’t been friends long, but we became friends fast and hard. 2020 was a rough year on everyone, seeking a change in the same old same old, I found Adri and booked her for a transformation cut. Everyone knows a good hair day can lift ones spirit and I was no exception. We connected during the hours I  have sat her chair and I have come to consider her as a good friend, someone who is down, really down down for those who she loves.

As many of those who are close to her know, Adri and Nick, are currently on the road of their infertility journey. Together they have weathered storms that would break others. Through all of this she has been sharing her journey with others, something I personally admire, because we don’t talk about infertility or miscarriage enough.

I know Adri has personally positively impacted my life and many others, be it her clients, friends and family. Now it’s time for us to support Adri and Nick as they navigate IVF and infertility, I know so many of us would love to help them get closer to parenthood. Below is their story so far in her words.

We are Nick and Adri Stiles and we are asking for support as we begin to try and grow our family though IVF

Our love story is my favorite. It’s one full of grace, redemption and healing. We met in 2018 and were married in 2019. We have come up against trials and chosen each other every step of the way. We knew early on that we wanted to have a family of our own one day and that is what has kept us driving forever forward.

We both come from different backgrounds and feel like we have had to fight hard for everything we have ever wanted, having a family of our own has been no different. We found out we were expecting our first baby in November of 2019. Very quickly our joy turned to sadness when we found out the pregnancy was ectopic. After an emergency surgery we found out that Adri had been bleeding internally for a few days beforehand. We learned that not only had we lost our baby but that she had been lucky to be alive.

We held off trying again in order to heal both physically and mentally. A year after we started again and we still weren’t pregnant. That sent us on the testing track. We found out that Adri has Tubal Factor Infertility, her fallopian tubes are malformed. Not only was this the cause of our infertility but it was also the cause of our ectopic pregnancy. Not only can Adri not get pregnant naturally, if she does it is very dangerous for her as the likelihood of having another ectopic pregnancy is very high.

The bad news is IVF is our only option to have children of our own. Our journey with IVF will be further complicated by the necessity of removing both of Adri’s fallopian tubes. Our insurance does not cover fertility treatments at all. The cost of all of this is upped by adding the tube surgery. Medications are not covered by insurance either.

The good news is we seem to be great candidates for IVF. Adri has a healthy uterus and ovaries, Nick preforms well in all of his tests. Our doctors are confident that we will be able to get pregnant with IVF. We qualify for a risk program through our clinic. This means that we will receive up to 6 rounds of IVF, resulting in a live birth, or we will get our money back. If that is the case we will take the funds and put them toward other options to grow our family.

Asking for help is something we are not good at. We are leaning into things that make us uncomfortable right now because we believe in our hearts that we are made to be parents. The cost feels too big at times but we are pushing through our pride and fight for the family we want more than anything. Any support given here will go toward retrieval, anesthesia, surgery, transfer and meds. As well as freezing and testing on the embryos. In the event that the first transfer fails whatever is left will go toward trying again. When we get pregnant we plan to save any left over embryos as long as we can and begin saving to hopefully grow our family even more one day. The cost is all due upfront and is our biggest hurdle in this journey.  As many before us have shown, it can take a long time, that's why we are hoping to start as soon as possible.

We cannot scream THANK YOU loud enough. We would not be able to do this without the support of those who love us. Even if you are not in a place financially to help us sharing our story with others is help enough.

With love to you all,

Adri, Nick & Luna
