My name is Adontis, and I’m a widower raising four amazing kids—two girls, ages 4 and 5, and two boys, ages 8 and 10. For the past two years, we have been homeless. We lost my sister, may she rest in peace, and on her birthday in June 2024, our lives changed completely. Since then, my kids and I have been living in a shelter, doing our best to stay strong and hopeful for a better future.

After two long years of uncertainty, we finally moved into our new home on December 1, 2025. It’s a huge relief to have a place to call our own, but getting here took everything I had. Every dollar I saved went toward making sure my kids had a roof over their heads and a little comfort after so much loss. As a single parent, especially with the anniversary of my spouse’s passing coming up on my birthday, it’s been a heavy journey.

Now, with the holidays approaching, I want nothing more than to give my children a joyful season and a sense of normalcy. Unfortunately, I don’t have much left to make their holiday wishes come true.
