On Father’s Day, I suffered a severe accident that left me with a broken femur and a fractured hip in three places. Since then, I’ve been unable to work and am facing a long recovery with a rod and screws holding my leg together. Every day is a struggle just to get around my apartment, and even the smallest tasks are exhausting. My 6-year-old son, Adam Jr, and my 2-year-old daughter, Addison, have been incredibly supportive, but it’s hard not being able to provide for them the way I want to. Their mother has stepped in to help with the kids, but I still feel the weight of not being able to contribute as I recover.


I’ve been out of work for two weeks now, and while I do have short-term disability, it’s not enough to cover all our expenses. I’m behind on rent for our apartment, and I’m struggling to keep up with the power, water, and internet bills. Most importantly, I’ve had to put off paying some bills just to make sure my kids have food on the table. The uncertainty of when my disability checks will arrive adds to the stress, and I worry every day about keeping a roof over our heads and the lights on for my children.
