Help Adam & Reba Adopt

Hello Friends and Family,

Adam and I (Reba/Rebecca) are pursuing a domestic adoption of a newborn. Joanna has just turned three and after three years and a miscarriage, more biological children are not possible. After much prayer and thought we started the process of adoption a couple months ago, it is a lot of work! We have read several books on adoption and feel we understand what adoption truly means for all involved and are ready to move forward in it. We will have our completed home study in the next few weeks and are working with an agency to match us with a birth family. We would appreciate your prayers for the process and that we are matched with the child God has for us. And if you are able, we appreciate any donation as this process is also very expensive. We were accepted by the matching agency but do not have enough funds at this time to pay the upfront costs which we hope to raise by mid-October. EXPENSES:

Home study, matching agency expenses, mother’s expenses, legal expenses, travel expenses, post-placement monthly check-ins

EST. TOTAL Expenses: $44,200

EST. TOTAL still needed: $12,000

EXPENSE BREAKDOWN:

Home Study - Adoption Blessing - Cost: $1,400 - good for one year (already paid for out of personal funds; if home study is needed for a second year, cost is $500)

Matching Agency - Angel Adoptions - Cost: $18,200 upfront and not refundable if adoption doesn’t occur (95% placement rate with 2 year agreement). How to fund:

Mother’s expenses: up to $8,000; How to fund:

Legal Expenses: up to $12,000; How to fund:

Travel Expenses: depends but planning on $3,000 if air travel and two weeks hotel stay is needed; How to fund:

Post Placement Visits (at least 4) - $400 each visit; How to fund:

*The federal adoption tax credit is $14,200 but we only get this in the year we have the adoption and have taxes prepared, so it is a reimbursement and not available when expenses occur.
