Help Abdulai bring COVID relief to his community
Donation protected
Since the early days of the pandemic, Abdulai Bah has been helping members of the Guinean immigrant community apply for and access unemployment and other COVID-19 social safety programs. Abdulai has focused specifically on some of the most vulnerable members of the community -- non-English speakers with limited computer literacy. He has helped tailors, home health aides, taxi and app drivers, hair salon workers, food cart vendors and many more who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. Abdulai has turned his apartment into a makeshift office. As soon as places of worship were allowed to reopen, Abdulai set up shop in a community Mosque in Brooklyn where people continue to line up to get free assistance. This has become his full-time job. Without Abdulai’s help, dozens would not be able to access these desperately needed benefits to which they are entitled. Unlike the many opportunist accountants in the Guinean community who are taking advantage of these turbulent times to charge exorbitant fees, Abdulai does not charge people for his services.
As rewarding and satisfying as the work is, it does not pay the bills. Please contribute what you can to help Abdulai continue to provide this free service to the community. All of the money raised will be used to compensate his time so he can continue to support his wife and daughter while providing this invaluable service to the community.
