Help Abbie Heal and Rebuild Her Life

Donation protected
My name is Annmarie and I live in Virginia. I am reaching out on behalf of me and my family with a heavy heart. On July 9, my 24-year-old, beautiful, funny, smart, enchanting niece, Abigail, was in a horrific one-person car accident in Jacksonville, Florida. She’s a fighter but she needs our support now more than ever.

Abbie was looking for a fresh start and moved from New Jersey to Florida almost two years ago. She initially stayed with her dad and then found a place of her own. She met a nice young man named Andrew truly began a new life with him. They found a cute little rental home that they could afford in beautiful St. Augustine. Andrew works for a landscaping company that specializes in décor for hospitals and more. Abbie recently found a job at a private day care center as a teaching assistant. She absolutely loves the small children she cares for from ages 2-3 years and their pictures are on her wall at the hospital for her inspiration to get well and back to them.

Life took an unexpected turn when driving home from work in the rain (ironically on her late Mama’s birthday). When she was changing lanes the power steering went out in the vehicle and she started hydroplaning off the road into the trees. Abbie was ejected from the vehicle.

By the Grace of God and with angels all around her, there were 3-4 paramedics driving behind her and saw the accident and immediately stopped to help. When Abbie woke up and realized she had been in an accident, she knew she could call 911 from her watch – but then she heard a voice – it was her mom’s – telling her to yell and scream – let them know you are here! She began to yell and that is when they found her in the bushes.

Miraculously, Abbie had no facial injuries! She had a broken humerus bone and dislocated elbow. The challenging issues are the internal ones with damage to her liver and spleen which have resulted in several surgeries, drains and more surgeries and a longer hospital stay.

Abbie has only been in her current position at work for a short period of time and does not have benefits nor the job today. Andrew has been working extra hard to make ends meet. Abbie has a long recovery ahead of her. Once she is released from the hospital she will be convalescing at her mom’s best friend, Mia’s home, in Tampa. Mia gracefully offered to help Abbie get back on her feet. This will entail Abbie moving across the state and having physical therapy, and her recovery, etc. from there.
The financial burden will be overwhelming with medical bills, rent, utilities, and the need for a new/used vehicle as well. We want to ensure that Abbie can focus om healing without worrying about bills and expenses.

Abbie’s smile has always been contagious but lately it’s been harder to see the longer she stays in the hospital. Your contribution can make a difference. It would help cover medical costs, a vehicle, rent and daily necessities. Every dollar can help.

We’ve calculated some expenses with medical being the most difficult to estimate:

Hospital stays, surgery & physical therapy - $10,000
Six months’ rent - $7,200
(Used) Vehicle with AC because, yes, it’s Florida - $15,000
Miscellaneous – utilities, food, gas, etc. - $7,000

Our goal is to raise about $40,000 to provide Abbie with the best care possible. Your generosity can ease her burden and give her hope. We can adjust this amount if necessary.

Please consider donating to Abbie’s Go Fund Me campaign. Even a small amount can create a ripple of hope. Please share her story with your friends, family and social network. Let’s come together as a community and lift Abbie up during this challenging time.

To those who have already offered their prayers and contributed, thank you from the depths of our hearts. Your kindness means more than words can express. We thank God above all else that Abbie is still here with us. Lying in a hospital for weeks is no fun. Let’s rally around Abbie and show her that she’s not alone in her recovery journey. Abbie, Andrew, her sisters, Dad, and extended family and me are truly thankful.

With sincere gratitude,

Annmarie Hysler
(Abbiegirl’s forever Aunt Missi)
and Abbie’s family!
