For years, my son has been blessed with a friendship that has challenged him to be better, work harder, and grow into a good young man. Now, he wants to do the same for his best friend. At just 16 years old, this young man has made the decision to pursue a better future. He wants to attend a high school outside of his district where he’ll be surrounded by friends who encourage him to succeed, work hard, and take advantage of greater educational opportunities.
The challenge? Transportation. A reliable vehicle would give him the independence to get to and from school, maintain a job, participate in community service projects, and say “yes” to opportunities that often come up at the last minute. Right now, transportation is the biggest obstacle standing in his way. My son and his friend are already working and saving toward this goal themselves. They’re not waiting for someone else to do the work for them. They’re putting in the effort and asking for a little help to bridge the gap.
I will be involved every step of the journey. We also have trusted friends and family willing to help us find a solid, dependable vehicle when the time comes. As we progress, I’ll share updates, photos, achievements, and—hopefully—the smiles that come with handing over the keys to a young man determined to build a better future. If you’re able to contribute, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this post could put it in front of someone who can. Sometimes changing a life doesn’t require changing the world. Sometimes it starts with a car, an opportunity, and a community that believes in a kid’s potential. Every share matters.
