Me and my husband and lovely 1.5-year-old daughter had planned of living, working and raising a family in the US, when my husband was transferred by his company. So in July this year we left our families behind in Austria and Switzerland and moved to Utah. Prior to that, my husband and I had already lived and worked abroad in Switzerland and through a lot of love, mutual support and countless sacrifices, we were able to save some money to begin live here. We had hoped to use our hard-saved money to start our new live in this blessed community.


The shock came during the week of 27th July. We were devastated to learn that we were involved in a scam, the banks securities had failed and the savings cannot be recuperated. None of the banks or authorities are supportive and we are left alone to struggle with this financial loss. We are left alone in a foreign country with no friends and family to support and no financial means. It breaks my heart to see the devastation this has caused for my husband as he takes all the blame on himself. It breaks my heart to see our little daughter being confused and sad over daddy’s bad mood as he is her favorite play pal. It breaks my heart to not be able to help him in any way as his sadness and shame overpower my words of encouragement, at least for now. And it breaks my heart to know that we’ll have to start saving for our lives all over again. I had given up my work in Switzerland to come here with my husband and am now unable to aid financially in any form.



We are now financially basically exhausted and do not have any savings to finance our start here. The money that was taken away from us was supposed to be used for our new live here, to finance cars, housing, furniture, daycare for our daughter.
Although my husband is blessed to have a job, he is the now the only income provider in our family we will not be able to make up the savings we lost and provide for our daughter as we had wished to. He feels guilty for having taken our family to live in Utah. But we know that there are so many beautiful aspects of living here and we are willing to give it a try if it works out financially.

We do not want to give up our live here and are grateful for any donated amount to get us started again within the next month. So, any contribution from you, however small, means the world to us. It’s not only about recovering our financial loss, it’s about recovering our trust in other people and in the community that we had hoped to be a part of.

Of course we also want to contribute and will in return we will provide free German lessons for anyone in our community.
