Hi, im fundraising for Basia, Robert and their 5 year old daughter Victoria. Sadly on the 11th of July they lost their home opposite the black horse pub in a catastrophic fire and tragically lost everything they had. They are now homeless and staying at the travelodge which isn’t sustainable as there are no cooking or laundry facilities. The council have also said they are unable to help with accommodation despite them having a 5yr old to care and provide for. The funds raised from this will be to help them start rebuilding their life by going towards accommodation and any belongings they need.
Please take a moment to read these words put together by a friend of the family.
Five minutes. That’s all it took to lose everything."
It was a warm, sunny Friday afternoon in the UK — the kind of day when most of us were winding down, heading home, planning barbecues, or watching our children play in the garden.
Basia had just stepped out to pick up her five-year-old daughter, Victoria, from school. Her partner was still at work, finishing up a long shift. Their house — the one they had poured nearly 20 years of love, time, and hard work into — was quiet and still.
And then the fire started.
No one saw it coming.
No warning. No chance to react.
Five minutes. That’s all it took from the moment Basia locked the door to the moment a neighbor called in panic — "Your house… it’s burning."
By the time they rushed back, it was already too late.
The flames had spread fast and furiously.
All they could do was stand there and watch as their entire life — every memory, every photo, every little piece of their family history — was turned to ash.
They didn’t even get to say goodbye to it.
Nothing could be saved — except one thing:
A half-burned photo album of little Victoria, pulled from the wreckage, edges scorched but her sweet face still smiling through the smoke stains. It was the only physical piece of their past left behind.
This wasn’t just a house. It was their home.
Built from nothing but determination, sacrifice, and the belief that if you work hard enough, you can create something lasting and beautiful.
They never asked for help.
They are the kind of people who give, who support others, who work until there’s nothing left to give.
But now, they are facing the unimaginable. And they can’t face it alone.
Please, if you’re reading this — help them start over.
A small donation, a simple share — it may seem like nothing to us, but to them, it’s everything.
Let’s give little Victoria a new place to call home.
Let’s help Basia and her partner rebuild what the fire tried to erase.
Let’s be the proof that even when the worst happens, kindness survives.
