Hi, I’m reaching out to our community to raise awareness and support for a Yemeni mother of young children who is in a deeply difficult situation. She’s a family friend and has been struggling for a long time in an abusive household. Over the years, I’ve helped her with paperwork and other things, as she doesn’t speak English, but her situation has reached a point where she’s ready to leave for the safety and well-being of her kids — she just doesn’t have the financial means to do so.

She wants to rebuild her life and give her children a safe, stable home, but right now she needs help to take that first step since her husband refuses to work, threatens to take her kids, and has become abusive toward her and them. She's doing everything alone-working, paying bills, raising her children-and I’m doing everything I can to gather money for her as soon as possible. The funds will go toward covering at least a down payment on an apartment and helping her get by as she looks for a job that works with her responsibilities as a mother.

As a community, and as Muslims, we’re taught to help those in hardship — to stand by the vulnerable and uplift those who are suffering. I hope we can come together to support her in this moment. Anything helps.
