Help a Woman in Need of a New Roof

Hi, My name is Candy Caboverde from Raise the Roof Miami, and we are raising funds for Gloria and Nancy so that they can have a much-needed new roof over their heads.

Gloria Mercugliano, on the left, is an 85-year-old widow who loves people and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She has been struggling to maintain her home for years as she has a limited, fixed income.

The constant leaking in her home has made matters much worse and has even affected her lifestyle. She often forgoes leaving her home when it looks like it’s going to rain because if she’s not there to clean up the mess from leaks quickly, things get a lot worse.

Gloria is not in a position to replace her roof.

Nancy Alfonso has suffered a series of unfortunate events and tragedies consisting of family members and most recently, the loss of both parents, in addition to losing her two childhood best friends due to cancer.

To make matters worse, she has endured spinal surgeries for 4 spinal fractures; and fractures on her shoulder, knee; and right ankle due to weak bones. She’s been unable to work due to her disability. The physical pain combined with the emotional grief and loss has affected her health even more.

Her roof has a large hole which causes a lot of water to come in. She finds puddles on the floor and more bubbles on walls each time it rains. There are electrical and plumbing issues in the house as well. With a low disability income and no longer having her husband and family with her, she has no one to help her financially.
