Help a Vetran see the kindness of people.

I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but here we are. I received a message from my husband with a picture of his work truck — completely on fire. He’s a veteran and a long-time trucker (over 8 years) working for a company based in Ontario. Thankfully, he made it out safely along with our 1-year-old blue heeler, but he lost everything in the fire.

For context, the front steering tire blew out, which sparked the fire. No one else was involved, but the damage was total. Right now, he’s the only one in our household working, so this has hit us hard. We're overwhelmed trying to figure out how we’ll pay bills, replace his clothes, and take care of our kids and dogs.

He was stranded in Kentucky after the fire. While his company offered to cover his flight home, they asked us to cover the cost of flying our dog back — and only if there was space available. Rather than leave our dog behind, he rented a car and drove home, but that’s now another expense added to the pile.

Update: 6/26/25 He’s made it home safely with our pup, but the truck fire is under investigation. They told him he’ll be without work for 1–2 months, depending on when they can assign him a new truck — there’s already a long waiting list.

If anyone is able to donate — no matter how small — it would mean the world to us. We need help replacing basic essentials he lost, covering bills, and just keeping ourselves afloat during this rough patch. I already rely on a food pantry, but it’s simply not enough to get by right now.
