I am a Veteran of the US Coast Guard 1968-1972 + 2 years reserve.
My name is Lennie Core. I'm 76 years old and have been fighting the Veterans Administration for 4 years as a Coast Guard Veteran over disability for my severe pain in my lower back due to a 20 lb ammunition canister being dropped on my lower back. I've submitted MRI and CT scans as evidence. A letter from my VA primary care physician states my condition was caused while in the service, and Jordan Young Institute has been treating my pain for over a year with shots in my spine that did not help. I take 6 Vicodin per day that helps very little. I've done physical therapy at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for 8 weeks that did not help much.
Had a new MRI 10/7/2025 shows my condition is getting worse.
Filed disability claims with the Veterans Administration 4 times each one was denied over the past 4 years.
After waiting almost a year after having a video hearing with a Veterans Administration Judge, I was recently denied again. I was appointed a Veterans Lawyer who told me I had a very good chance of being approved and his letter to the Judge he stated I meet all of the requirements for my claim. According to their decision, they stated the language used by my doctors was not acceptable. Each stated they were more than 50 percent positive my back was injured while I served in the Coast Guard.
We are appealing that decision once again. It will take almost another year for another decision.
I receive my medications from the Hampton VA Medical Center, 80 miles from my rented home in Exmore, Virginia. I live on $1600 a month social security and hearing disability. My rent is $750, car insurance $400 for my 2001 Chevy Tahoe with State Farm. My driving record shows 2 vehicles total loss not my fault, but since the other drivers had little to no insurance, State Farm paid.
I am unable to wash dishes or climb stairs due to pain. Getting in and out of bed is difficult and painful. Grocery shopping is panful.
I had a 2011 Chevy Suburban that left me stranded on a trip to visit one of my children. It was sitting at Priority Chevy in Newport News, VA, not repaired with a $700 bill needing 4500 in repairs, Priority Chevrolet has been sold so my vehicle has probably been junked. I’m a homebody, I pay a lady to clean up and help when she can. Doing my dishes, cleaning my floors doing laundry I give her $60 each time. I receive food stamps $24per month. Local Foodbank's are low on food. Last week I received 8 can goods, 4 potatoes 2 onions and huge carrots.
My support dog, Pistol Pete is an 8 year old Chaiwawa needs to see a veterinarian as he has a lump over his right eye. It could be Cancer.
HE STILL NEEDS TO SEE A VET ASAP.
10/2/2025 YET ANOTHER PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX BILL FOR $311.00 UGH
