Hi everyone,
I’m a disabled combat veteran and a single father of two teenagers, currently in the middle of a necessary housing transition. I’m asking for short-term help covering moving expenses during a timing gap caused by a home sale that’s still in escrow.
I’ve sold my home and am relocating. While the sale is in progress, I’m facing significant upfront moving and relocation costs that my disability income doesn’t cover, and I won’t have access to the proceeds from the sale until escrow clears. Once it does, those funds will go directly toward rent at our new place while I work toward securing a new VA loan.
This isn’t about long-term need or mismanagement — it’s about timing and logistics. Moving a household with two kids requires expenses up front, including:
• Truck rental and transport
• Deposits and utility setup
• Packing, storage, and basic logistics
• Transition costs that can’t be deferred during escrow
I set the goal higher than the bare minimum to account for escrow timing delays, deposits, and the very real, unpredictable costs that come with relocating a family. Disability income doesn’t leave much flexibility for large, sudden expenses like these, even with careful planning.
If you’re able to help bridge this gap, I would be deeply grateful. Every contribution goes directly toward the practical costs of getting us moved, settled, and stable so I can focus on my kids and rebuilding long-term housing security.
If donating isn’t an option, sharing this also helps more than you might think.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to offer.
