Hi everyone, my name is Lauren Ewanick, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my incredibly resilient and close friend. They would like to remain anonymous, as this is not an easy ask. I can truly say with my whole heart, mind, and soul that this person could not be more worthy of the community, love, and support we can provide them.
She is currently an unemployed, full-time honors student at UCLA, focusing on building a strong academic future while also job searching in this challenging job market. This plan was interrupted when she was served a summons regarding a debt from Capital One/Discover.
The debt originated during a time of extreme personal crisis and financial instability. She was homeless, living in her car when she was struggling to meet her basic needs, including providing food for herself and her service animal, Arlo. Despite being unemployed, she made repeated attempts to work with the bank to find ways to start repaying her debt with any money she could manage. Unfortunately, she was unable to reach a resolution.
The good news is that we secured legal counsel, and her attorney successfully negotiated a settlement for $4,450, paid over 18 installments. This agreement provides the pathway she needs to bring this challenging chapter to a close once and for all.
