My good friend S is a trans refugee from Guatemala in need of support in funding bills and fees for a green card. I first met S over 7 years ago - she was a teenager and had just migrated here alone to escape gender-based violence. The process for attaining her refugee status has been long and arduous, and is still under way. Now S is working to obtain her green card as an alternative, potentially faster way to secure her citizenship here.

Recently, S was illegally detained by ICE but was lucky to have a lawyer fight for her release. With violence and hostility towards both trans people and immigrants escalating with each new day, it is more important now than ever that she secure this legal status.

S is a kind and thoughtful person who has worked hard to be here and support her family in Guatemala. Now she needs our support to fund medical bills related to her green card application. Our goal is $500, but any additional funds will support her with her other costs of living like food and rent.
