Hey guys, I’m a 36 year old trans masc person who is leaving an abusive marriage. I have two teenagers and a mortgage and I’m terrified but I need to do it for my own health and mental well being. I got married at 19 to my high school sweetheart and have been married for 17 years. In that time period I have been cheated on over 10 times in horrific ways as well as lied to manipulated and sexually assaulted by my partner. I have no familial support which is why I’ve stayed married for so long. I was a stay at home parent while my ex partner was the bread winner . 4 months ago my partner cheated on me while pretending to be suicidal. Since then we have separated and they were diagnosed as bipolar. I let them stay at the house to figure out their meds and get acclimated before fully separating in a way that could stay out of the courts. However since then they have moved out with their girlfriend of three weeks and is not communicating about any finances. I have a mortgage to pay and although I could slowly save up money for a divorce attorney I’m now making this go fund me at the suggestion of my friends to keep me and my family safe and housed. The retainer fee for a divorce attorney is over 3000 . I’m hoping to raise some money to help cover that so that i can finally escape my abuser and move on with my life .
